Today’s Knit Outfit & Small Biz Love

So if you have been following me on Instagram for a little bit, I am now trying to do a few new weekly posts to keep myself accountable and to share things I love with you all.

First, I’m trying to hold myself accountable to getting better dressed each week… after living in sweats and yoga pants for the last year (almost), I am working on wearing more of my actual wardrobe and my own makes. Hopefully I can keep this up for the rest of the year and we will see how many combinations my handmade wardrobe can take on! You can check them out on Instagram. There are lots of others who also use the #todaysknitoutfit hashtag so you can find even more inspiration there.

Ok, so the second thing I am trying to implement for myself this year is to share the love. Or share the small business love that is… I am hoping to have a new post about someone in small business each week. I’ll tell you why I like them, admire them, and a little bit about who they are and what they do. This last year has been so incredibly tough on small businesses that I felt like this is something I wanted and needed to do. I used to work at the chamber of commerce in Salem, and this just felt like a natural fit for me. Expect all kinds of yarn and maker related things. I will possibly even feature local Salem business and more! Stay tuned – I am likely going to share these on Fridays/Saturdays going forward. If you have a suggestion for one that you think I should feature, reach out, I would love to hear about your favorite small businesses too!

Thanks and keep on making!
Love and Joy,
Jill

This last year has been so hard on so many people and beloved businesses I know (and looks like will continue for a while). So one of the things I wanted to start this year is sharing with you my friends and folks I admire in small business each week. This week’s is pretty special ☺️ Oliver Creative @oliver_creative was naturally the first one I chose - Ada helped me develop my branding right when I first decided to start writing knitting patterns last year and it was immensely and immediately helpful to get my brand going. We went to college together and she is such a dear, sweet friend and also her work is truly amazing! She has done so much and I truly admire her for it, especially throughout the pandemic. Check out her logos, mood boards, workshop space and basically anything else you can think of creative... she does it all!
