The Après Ski Party hat is one I’m super proud of – it plays with color dominance and its just an all-around fun hat! It’s also a collaboration with WoolRx Yarns using two colors of Rebeccas’s Wicked Worsted. You can go as bright or as neutral as you want for this hat. I think it looks great with a pompom since its a bit slouchy on top as well.
Rebecca is a dear friend and I’ve known her since we met at a knitting retreat a few years ago. From day one I knew I wanted to be her friend! This hat is an ode to her, and her love of pink and purple as well as the art of colorwork. Basically all of her favorite things combined… except glitter and sparkles (perhaps next time!).
When I spoke with Rebecca about designing this hat, I immediately thought it needed to be something fun, bright and extra special with the colorwork. From there, I decided that playing with dominance was something really special and unique for this design, thus Après Ski Party Hat was created (all in all about a day from start to finish!).
The Après Ski Party Hat is a fairly quick knit, worked up in two contrasting colors of worsted weight yarn of your choice. An extra long 2×2 rib is worked to have the option to fold over, and then the colorwork pattern begins.
This hat would be great for the intermediate colorwork knitter wanting to play around with the concept of color dominance. It’s also a great beanie for men or women – based on your color choices, it can be very versatile.
This hat is a special collaboration with WoolRX and uses two different colored skeins of her plump Wicked Worsted 100% SW Merino yarn.
This hat is knit in the round from the brim to the top.
